Alchemy Lacquers Lab Report Part 1 – Arctic Alchemy

Provided for Honest Review

I’m alive!  My postings may be slightly more sporadic as I am entering my final semester before graduating with my Bachelor’s Degree!  I’m very excited but there is a lot of work to go into this semester so I may have to sacrifice some of the time I would have spent on my blog on that.  Never fear though I will always try to get posts out as much as possible.  I would miss this blog terribly so I won’t cut it out even for a semester.  If ya’ll have something special you’d like to see or some kind of feature idea feel free to contact me via the site and I will see what I can do.  Come summer ya’ll will be sick of me again as I will be back to my 2-3 time a week postings!

Today though I have an amazing collection to show you.  I have all but one of the collection but I think that you will get a great idea of what this collection is all about.  It’s no secret that Alchemy Lacquers is one of my all time favorite brands.  Rebecca consistently improves on every single collection she puts out.  She just keeps getting better and better and this current collection is so so beautiful and perfectly represents the theme!  These polishes are all currently available and I will include all the necessary links at the bottom!

Let’s start with Blizzard, fun fact Blizzard has actually been part of Rebecca’s core collection for a long time but it goes so naturally with this collection that it’s being included:

Alchemy Lacquers - Blizzard

Alchemy Lacquers – Blizzard

Blizzard is a perfect pale pale pale blue with a light shimmer and teensie tiny blue speckles.  It makes a great base for nail art and could even provide undies for some of the collection polishes if you didn’t want to build to opacity.

Alchemy Lacquers - Blizzard

Application is lovely.  You can see there aren’t any streaks or drags and it applies very smoothly.  Two coats to opacity without any trouble.  Sometimes cremes are a bit difficult to work with in these lighter colors but the consistency is perfect.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Blizzard; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

Next up let’s take a look at Dawn of the North:

Alchemy Lacquers - Dawn of the North

Alchemy Lacquers – Dawn of the North

Just look at that!  I’ll give you a moment….

Awesome right?  I love love this polish so much.  This is a light blue jelly multichrome polish.  It’s so shifty!  It shifts from a sort of golden to pinkish purple and some slight green here and there in corners.  The shifty is so strong that you can see it here without a lot of contortion or heroic acts.  Love!

Alchemy Lacquers - Dawn of the North

Alchemy Lacquers – Dawn of the North

Isn’t it lovely?  It does go on sheer but it builds to opacity, I have a very defined nail line but me and VNL are copacetic so I don’t mind a little VNL now and then.  The sheerness in this and a couple others do not bother me in the least because to me it fits the theme quite well.  These pictures show three thin coats plus topcoat.  You could use undies but to me it would detract a little from the loveliness.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Dawn of the North; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

Next up is one of my favorites from the collection, Permafrost:

Alchemy Lacquers - Permafrost

Alchemy Lacquers – Permafrost

Oh.Em.GEE!  It’s like Rebecca asked me what I wanted for Christmas and then made this.  Seriously everything about this polish makes me happy.  It’s a creamy grey crelly with a subtle linear holo and rainbow microflakies!!!  LOVE!

Alchemy Lacquers - Permafrost

Alchemy Lacquers – Permafrost

Application for Permafrost is the height of perfection.  Self-leveling smooth application.  The pictures show two coats plus topcoat!

Polishes used:   Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Permafrost; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

Next up is a glitter topper that happens to look awesome over Permafrost:

Alchemy Lacquer - Graupel

Alchemy Lacquer – Graupel

Graupel is a perfect mix of white and ice blue satin glitters and white matte glitter in a clear base.  It would look amazing over a variety of undies and I chose to pair it with Permafrost because well they just seemed to go together naturally!

Alchemy Lacquers - Graupel

Alchemy Lacquers – Graupel

This glitter topper went on great without any issues at all.  This is one unmanipulated coat over undies and topped with topcoat.  Because the glitters are smaller gauged they don’t need a lot of help to smooth out.

Polishes used:   Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Graupel; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

This post is to be continued with the remaining four polishes that I have in my possession.  Trust me you will not be disappointed the gilded offering is coming up!  In the meantime, you should totally go check out the Alchemy Lacquers’ shop and snag up your own bottles of these amazing polishes.  You can also follow AL on Facebook and Instagram to see more amazing swatches and pictures!

Lab Report – Alchemy Lacquers Holiday Collection

Provided for Honest Review

So I’m super excited for this post – I’ve been seeing sneak peeks of these for awhile now and I couldn’t wait to get my grabby hands on them!  I have four polishes that are just perfect for the holidays.  One Christmas and two Hannukah polishes plus a 2.0 version of a classic Alchemy Lacquers Polish.  We don’t get to see a lot of Hannukah polishes so I’m pretty happy to see them in this collection!

Up first are the gildeds.  I’m going to start with Gilded Holly:

Alchemy Lacquers - Gilded Holly

Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Holly

Another win Alchemy Lacquers.  I am in total love with all the gilded polishes and there is nothing else like them out there.  This is a green based polish with a gold/silver shift and bright red and green metallic and holographic glitter.

Alchemy Lacquers - Gilded Holly

Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Holly

Application is as perfect as I’ve come to expect.  I’ve been following and reviewing for Alchemy Lacquers a long time and there is a level of excellence that I’ve come to expect.  Glitter spread is perfect and opacity is easily achieved.  Pictures show two coats with topcoat.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Holly; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That

Next up is Gilded Dreidel, one of the two Hannukah polishes:

Alchemy Lacquers - Gilded Dreidel

Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Dreidel

Again loving this one.  This addition to the gilded collection is a blue based polish with the characteristic silver/gold shift.  I’ve noticed that depending on the base color sometimes the silver or gold is more prominent.  In Gilded Holly the gold came out to play more but in this one the silver seems to be more prevalent.  Despite all the sparkly goodness of the gilded part of the polish she packed it with shades of blue and silver metallic and holographic glitters.  Total sparkle city!

Alchemy Lacquers - Gilded Dreidel

Perfect application.  Opaque in two coats.  Glitter dispersal is great.  I often feel like a broken record on this issue so I’m going to keep it short and sweet this time.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Dreidel; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That

Next up is Tekhelet

Alchemy Lacquers - Tekhelet

Alchemy Lacquers – Tekhelet

Tekhelet is a Hebrew word that means turquoise or blue and refers specifically to a sacred dye that was mentioned several times in the Hebrew Bible or Tanakh.  This is a super sparkly mix of blue and silver metallic and holographic microglitters.  It’s like a blue discoball of sparkly fun on the nail!

Alchemy Lacquers - Tekhelet

Alchemy Lacquers – Tekhelet

Now you’d think hmm microglitter in a clear base that sounds like a nightmare to bring to opacity if it’s even possible but I assure you that with these it’s not only possible but EASY.  These pictures show two coats NO undies.  That’s right all that sparkly goodness doesn’t even need undies and even with my prominent VNL I didn’t need more than two coats!

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Tekhelet; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That

Next up is Snowberry a classic Alchemy Lacquers that has been revamped so I’m fondly calling it Snowberry 2.0:

Alchemy Lacquers - Snowberry

Alchemy Lacquers – Snowberry

Snowberry is a silver foil holographic base with royal blue holographic glitters.  It’s like she took all the holo that one could want and stuffed it into one magical polish.  I often find that I’m bored with linear holographic polishes because they are so one note and no one ever seems to put glitter in them and I admit I’m addicted to glitter.  But every so often a maker gets the urge to buck the status quo and put glitter in linear holographic base and I love it every time.  I’ve already worn this one twice.  Yeah I love it that much.

Alchemy Lacquers - Snowberry

Alchemy Lacquers – Snowberry

Just look at the holo in that and this is under artificial lighting.  In the sunshine it’s downright distracting!  Two coats perfect application.  I had no problems with consistency or glitter dispersal.  Two coats plus topcoat!

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Snowberry (2.0); Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That

As per usual this is where I can tell you where to find your own Alchemy Lacquers polishes.  You can check out their Website or Etsy Store to learn more about all the available polishes.  You should definitely also check out her Facebook and Instagram for sneak peeks and swatches of all these amazing polishes and things coming up in the future.  As a fun thing this season you can order a Secret Santa or Hannukah Harry gift that can be sent anonymously to a gift recipient.  This is a lot of fun and takes the guesswork out of what to get that hard to buy for person!

Lab Report – Alchemy Lacquers Distiller’s Duo (Alchemist Edition)

Provided for Honest Review

Aww!  The time has come – I’ve reached the end of the fall release polishes from Alchemy Lacquers.  I saved the Limited Edition Distiller’s Duo for last!  This duo has already been pretty popular so you should definitely snag it before its gone!  Let’s get started shall we?

First up is The Devil’s Cut:

Alchemy Lacquers - Devil's Cut

Alchemy Lacquers – Devil’s Cut

Devil’s Cut is a charcoal gray jelly polish filled with silver shimmer.  Then black and gray microflakies were added.  As if that wasn’t enough there are a huge amount of black and metallic red microglitters suspended throughout that add a ton of sparkle and depth.  Yeah pretty much this whole thing has just got it going on!  I’m not a huge fan of black polishes but because this one isn’t opaque and has so much silver and sparkle added to it I think I manage to pull it off quite nicely!

Alchemy Lacquers - Devil's Cut

Alchemy Lacquers – Devil’s Cut

I love that you can really see the red microglitter and it stands out so prominently!  The formula on this is devilishly fabulous.  Even though it goes on sheer in one coat it is easily buildable and the pictures show three thin coats plus topcoat.  There is a lot going on here so the polish may be slightly thicker in formula than some other polishes but I didn’t find it to be distracting or a problem during application.

Polishes Used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Devil’s Cut; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

Next up we have Angel’s Share:

Alchemy Lacquers - Angel's Share

Alchemy Lacquers – Angel’s Share

If ever there was a duo that was so completely opposite from each other, well it would be this one!  Perfectly so in my opinion.  Angel’s Share is a sheer white jelly polish packed with shimmery white and iridescent microflakies.  Just like Devil’s Cut, Rebecca didn’t stop with microflakies, oh no she went for it and added gold and silver holographic microglitter.  Oh.My.Heck.  If I could imagine angel’s wings I think that they would look like this!

Alchemy Lacquers - Angel's Share

Alchemy Lacquers – Angel’s Share

It’s just a really beautiful polish and I don’t mind saying it!  Now then the formula on this was divine (see what I did there?  I crack myself up).  It didn’t streak or drag.  Again because of the plethora of complex goodness this one is slightly on the thick side but it was not unworkable in the least, I generally prefer my polishes to be a little thicker rather than thinner anyway, this one stays where you put it and that’s a good thing.  It’s sheer but buildable, pretty standard for a jelly polish.  Pictures show three thin coats with topcoat.

Polishes Used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Angel’s Share; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

Don’t forget, this one is a limited edition duo, you can buy one or the other or you can buy both (as you should they belong together)!  You can buy The Distiller’s Duo and all of Alchemy Lacquers’ new fall releases RIGHT NOW in her Etsy Shop.  Seriously she has really outdone herself with this fall collection and if you haven’t you should totally check out the Witch’s Weeds and Apothecary’s Cabinet collections too!  You can keep up wtih all the news on the Alchemy Lacquers’ Facebook page and see sneak peeks, blogger swatches, and other pretty pictures on Alchemy Lacquers’ Instagram feed!
