Lab Report – Alchemy Lacquers Witch’s Weeds Collection

Provided for Honest Review

Hello my lovely readers!  I’m back with the next installment of awesomeness from the recent Fall Launch over at Alchemy Lacquers.  Today I have for you the Witch’s Weeds collection.  This is a five piece collection of nail polishes based on certain nefarious herbs that are used as poisons.  Let me tell you though these polishes are no trick they are a treat all the way!

Let’s start with Nightshade:

Alchemy Lacquers - Nightshade

Alchemy Lacquers – Nightshade

Nightshade is a super unique polish.  It’s a deep purple jelly packed to the top with an emerald green shimmer.  It reads green in pictures but you can see the purple underneath in person.  But man oh man when the light catches that emerald flash it’s just amazing.  I have nothing like this in my entire collection and I’ve never seen anything even similar to it either.  I love that about Alchemy Lacquers she keeps managing to come up with some unique things that I just don’t see out there right now!

Alchemy Lacquers - Nightshade

Formula on this was perfection.  It built up to opacity quite nicely even though it is a jelly based polish.  I didn’t have any streakiness or balding and I’m really pleased with how smooth and even it came out.  No brushstrokes either which is nice with the super shimmeriness I thought I might have to use a patient hand but I had no issues with that. Pictures show two coats plus topcoat

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Nightshade; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

Next up is Henbane

Alchemy Lacquers - Henbane

Alchemy Lacquers – Henbane

Henbane is a beautiful wine colored linear holographic polish with some taupe or beige microflakies.  While they microflakies don’t stand out a lot on their own they give the polish depth and dimension.  I like holos that have a bit of a kick or something else interesting going on.  This one is just lovely.  I really love the shade, it’s one of those colors that looks really good on a lot of people!

Alchemy Lacquers - Henbane

Again we’re working with a perfect formula.  Sometimes holos can be a little streaky or tough to work with but this one is magic.  Smooth application and I *almost* didn’t need a second coat.  Pictures show two coats with topcoat.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Henbane; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

For your viewing pleasure up next I have Belladonna:

Alchemy Lacquers - Belladonna

Alchemy Lacquers – Belladonna

Belladonna is a beautiful multichrome jelly polish with some black microflakies thrown in for interest!  The polish shifts from rose to purple and just seems to glow with that purply shimmer.  The jelly base is more of a charcoal gray and the overall effect is just a beautiful polish. I think that this one in particular would be really awesome as a base for stamping nail art.

Alchemy Lacquers - Belladonna

The formula on this is similar to Nightshade in that it’s a jelly polish with some extra going on with it!  It applied the same way, beautifully.  Pictures show two coats plus topcoat.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Belladonna; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

So now we’re coming up to one of my two favorites in this collection.  First up is Mandrake:

Alchemy Lacquers - Mandrake

Alchemy Lacquers – Mandrake

Holy cow how I love this polish.  I am not a nude polish loving girl, I’m not a brown polish loving girl but I LOVE THIS POLISH this will be my go to nude holographic polish forever.  It is so gorgeous.  Mandrake is a brown linear holographic with a multichrome shift (red to green to pink).  I cannot tell you how beautiful it is!

Alchemy Lacquers - Mandrake

Alchemy Lacquers – Mandrake

Formula on this was absolute perfection.  It went on in two smooth easy coats.  Fully opaque without any pesky problems with application!

Here’s a bonus macro because I couldn’t believe how prominent the holo effect was in ARTIFICIAL light!

Last but certainly not least is my very favorite of the group.  This polish caused me to message Rebecca immediately with some flailing and raving about how amazing and awesome it is.  This is Hemlock:

Alchemy Lacquers - Hemlock

Alchemy Lacquers – Hemlock

Hemlock is a blue based polish with a purple, red, gold, green multichrome shift.  In some lights it looks purply and in others it looks acid green.  It’s so so gorgeous!  Then I got it out into the sun and the holographic came out to play.  I could not capture it indoors because the multichrome takes over in that light!

Alchemy Lacquers - Hemlock

Alchemy Lacquers – Hemlock

It’s so shifty and pretty!  The formula is awesome and only took two coats to perfect opacity.  It went on smoothly without any hitches or drags!

Here’s a bonus shot showing the acid green shift!

Lab Report – Apothecary’s Cabinet from Alchemy Lacquers

Provided for Honest Review

I am so stinking excited!  I don’t think it’s any secret that Alchemy Lacquers is one of my favorite polish brands of all time.  Rebecca is constantly coming out with unique, complex, yet highly wearable polishes for all occasions.  To celebrate that October is Alchemy Lacquer’s Anniversary month as well I’m going to have a week of Alchemy Lacquers Lab Reports for you!  Today I’m going to start with her Hallowe’en offering, The Apothecary’s Cabinet.  This is a five piece collection that represents what any good Apothecary should have in their cabinet for mixing up all those spooky brews this time of year!

First up is this Hallowe’en’s Gilded polish!  Alchemy Lacquers is known for their unique gilded polishes.  I love every single one that has come out so far and this one is no different.  Here is Gilded Witch’s Brew:

Alchemy Lacquers - Gilded Witch's Brew

Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Witch’s Brew

Such a perfect gilded offering for the Hallowe’en season!  This polish is a gilded purple base with orange, black, and purple metallic and holographic glitters in a variety of sizes.  It’s sparkletastic!

Alchemy Lacquers - Gilded Witch's Brew

Alchemy Lacquers – Gilded Witch’s Brew

Let’s talk about formula!  This was easy to apply and I didn’t have any issues at all.  The glitter spread out nicely and I didn’t have to manipulate it or fish it out of the bottle.  The pictures show two coats plus a nice shiny topcoat!

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Witch’s Brew; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

Next up we have one that might have been made for me!  Ghost in a Bottle:

Alchemy Lacquers - Ghost in a Bottle

Alchemy Lacquers – Ghost in a Bottle

Anyone at all who knows me knows that I love a good glitter crelly polish.  This one is a stunning example of one that is done perfectly right.  It’s  a bright ghost white with a good amount of shimmer and then added to that is a mix of neon orange, black, neon green, and neon purple matte glitters sprinkled throughout.

Alchemy Lacquers - Ghost in a Bottle

Alchemy Lacquers – Ghost in a Bottle

I really cannot say enough about how much I love this polish.  The formula on the crelly base itself is perfect, opacity in two coats without being too sheer or too hard to work with.  The glitter because it’s a smaller mix spreads out and disperses perfectly.  These pictures show two coats plus topcoat and zero manipulation or fishing.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Ghost in a Bottle; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

Next up is Rotten Pumpkin Juice, all you flakie lovers get ready!

Alchemy Lacquers - Rotten Pumpkin Juice

Alchemy Lacquers – Rotten Pumpkin Juice

Rotten Pumpkin juice is a murky gray-brown jelly base that is packed with micro-flakies, I see gold, copper, green, and purple microflakies.  You know I’m a fan of the flakies and I’m also a fan of how this is not a black based polish.  It seems to me that a lot of polishes I see are black based and they are just not that forgiving on me.  This is a very forgiving shade and I enjoyed how it looked on!

Alchemy Lacquers - Rotten Pumpkin Juice

Alchemy Lacquers – Rotten Pumpkin Juice

You can see the flakies a little better in this picture, they didn’t come across in the pictures very well but I assure you they add a lot of dimension to the polish in person.  The formula on this was like butter.  No streakiness or balding or any of that nasty stuff.  This shows two coats with topcoat!

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Rotten Pumpkin Juice; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

Next up we have Glittering Cobwebs…thank goodness they aren’t real cobwebs or I’d be freaking out about now!

Alchemy Lacquers - Glittering Cobwebs

Alchemy Lacquers – Glittering Cobwebs

Love this one soo soo much!  This is a clear based polish packed up to the tippity top with teensie tiny super sparkly glitter in purple, orange, and black.  It reminds me of Unicorn Horn but darker and more dangerous!  The glitters are holographic and they just catch light perfectly.  Look at the orange glitters, they almost seem to glow because they are so glitteriffic (two made up words in one post way to go me!)

Alchemy Lacquers - Glittering Cobwebs

Alchemy Lacquers – Glittering Cobwebs

Glittering Cobwebs despite its name went on like a dream.  It builds up to opacity quite nicely and is easy to work with.  The only thing about this one is that you might need a little more patience around the cuticles for clean up if a few stray glitters bother you.  They cleaned up pretty well but the odd one really wanted to stay with me.  I think that this is just the nature of glitter anyway!  Also despite being a micro glitter polish it didn’t seem to be all that topcoat hungry to me, I just used my regular topcoat and it smoothed right out!  Pictures show three thin coats plus topcoat.

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Glittering Cobwebs; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

Last but not least is Eye of Newt, every good Apothecary would keep Eye of Newt in their stores and so therefore here it is!

Alchemy Lacquers - Eye of Newt

Alchemy Lacquers – Eye of Newt

Eye of Newt is a deep emerald green jelly polish packed with sparkly goodness like color changing glitter, purple iridescent flakies (FLAKIES), and blue and green metallic microglitter.  It’s squishy and dark and sparkly.  Perfect for fall since dark greens seem to be a real trend this year!

Alchemy Lacquers - Eye of Newt

Alchemy Lacquers – Eye of Newt

So squishy!  I love jelly polishes for this.  While it is a jelly polish it still reaches opacity quite easily.  I didn’t have any issues with dragging or other formula issues.  Pictures show two coats plus topcoat!

Polishes used:  Glisten & Glow – Stuck on Blu; Alchemy Lacquers – Eye of Newt; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat

There you have it, the Apothecary’s Cabinet.  Five gloriously fun polishes for Hallowe’en and all Fall long!  Want to get your hands on these?  Well you’re in luck Alchemy Lacquers will be launching this collection along with another beautiful Quintet of polishes called “Witch’s Weeds” and a gorgeous duo “The Distiller’s Duo” TONIGHT!  That’s right Tonight October 20 at 8PM EST you will be able to order all the new polishes in her Etsy Store.  If you want to keep up to date on all the news and happening and see all the gorgeous pictures of her new lines make sure to follow on Facebook and Instagram!

Wednesdays We Wear Pink – Featuring Jindie Nails

Jindie Nails - Be Someone Cute

Jindie Nails – Be Someone Cute

I betcha thought I forgot about this!  While I’m not doing it EVERY Wednesday anymore if I have something that works I promise I’ll bring it to you!  Today I have an awesome polish (is there any other kind when we talk about this brand?  I mean really?) from Jindie Nails!  Today I have a fun and funky glitter bomb polish that is just so girly and ready for this Pink Wednesday!

Be Someone Cute:

Jindie Nails - Be Someone Cute

Jindie Nails – Be Someone Cute

Just look at all that glitter!  I’m dying here from glitter overload.  Ok, so not really dying that’s a bit of an overstatement.  But, I am totally loving every single little happy glittery part of it!  Be Someone Cute is a hot pink jelly packed with hot pink, black, and white matte tiny glitters.  You can wear it as a topcoat (it’s sheer enough) or you can do like I did and layer it up for full opacity!

Jindie Nails - Be Someone Cute

Jindie Nails – Be Someone Cute

I’m such a sucker for jelly glitter polishes.  This one is a dream to apply and use.  I didn’t have any problem getting the glitter to spread easily and the application itself was very smooth.  Small glitters like this can be a little topcoat hungry but honestly I didn’t find it to be a problem at all but I do use a thick topcoat that does a good job smoothing glitter on its own without a glitter smoother.  This is three thin coats plus topcoat.

Polishes used:  Butter London – Nail Foundation; Jindie Nails – Be Someone Cute; Digital Nails – Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That Topcoat.

You can find Jindie Nails here and on facebook and she is also on instagram!  You’ll definitely want to follow on Facebook so that you will know when restocks are happening as her polishes tend to go very fast.
